Colorado Shakespeare Festival Summer Job Opportunities

Staff Level

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival employs staff level technicians, artisans, and craftspersons in both production and costumes departments. Staff positions are ideal for seasoned professionals, early career artists, as well as those in advanced levels of professional training and / or who have 1 – 2 years of professional experience. The following positions are currently accepting applications:

Theatrical Stage Technician

Student Staff Level (closed to non-CU students for 2024)

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival has opportunities for students with current and continuing enrollment in an academic or vocational program, and who may have some advanced or professional experience. Student staff positions can be considered “entry level” and are ideal for technicians, artisans, and craftspersons who are ready to begin building their resume credits, and continue their professional development in production or costumes. Student staff positions are also ideal for motivated students who may not be pursuing a career in the performing arts, but who do have relevant interests and skill sets, and are looking for meaningful summer employment. To apply as a student employee, candidates can submit an application through the posted staff level post, or send resume and cover letter to the CSF production manager, Jon Dunkle, at [email protected].

** Student staff positions are not just for CU Boulder students! Any actively enrolled student in any qualifying program in the United States who will not be graduating in Spring 2024 can apply!

Apprentice Level (closed for 2024)

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival has opportunities for novice technicians, artisans, and craftspersons in all areas of production, costumes, and stage management. Designed to foster interest and offer initial exposure to professional theater production, apprentices work alongside professional staff members in a “learning by doing” environment, participate in tech and dress rehearsals, and as part of a repertory company gain experience by working in the shops, running shows, and working changeovers. After spending a summer with CSF, apprentices regularly secure entry-level staff positions. Read more about CSF apprentices and their success stories here!

Apprenticeships are available in carpentry, paints, props, lighting / electrics, sound, costume stitching, costume crafts, wigs and makeup, and stage management. Send resume and cover letter to the CSF production manager, Jon Dunkle, at [email protected].
